English courses

This course seem to me very great because we practice a lot the oral expression but I think it would be oriented to our disciplines, I mean that usually we talk about thinks that are not so useful for our university courses. Another thing that could be ameliorated is the methodology, I always think that to learn a language is necessary to talk about things that interest people; it could be about song that we like for example. But in general I think it’s a good course. By the other side, the use of blogs I think it’s really original and motivating, it seem to me a good way to learn a language because we put into practice what we learn in class. And by the way we can read the post of our class partners and it’s a didactic way to teach and learn about mistakes.
I have to improve my vocabulary and my oral communication, but I didn’t know how because I never talk English. I think with films or song I could improve my English. Moreover outside the English class I don’t use very much the language, except to talk with foreigners or read a paper for class. Indeed I think that the only way to learn a good English is to be traveling or using it all the time, because if it isn’t like this, I forget things I learn, so I never achieve to speak fluently. To conclude, English seems to me a very important language today, and the best way to learn it is having practice often if it’s possible.  But in general I think it’s a good course to learn English, having in mint that it’s difficult to practice it in the daily life.

Literature and Books

To introduce this subject I can say that I read very much because of my career, and because I love literature. I don´t love “read” because this is an exercise, I love read some things, some world built by the authors. In fact what I love of literature is not reading in general, but some worlds or ideas contained in books. Because of that I don´t know actually how many books I have read in my life, I don’t count them. I usually read but I’m not a compulsive reader because I prefer sometimes to go out there and live my own experiences. So to read a text it has to be more interesting than that. Beyond the books  about my discipline, I love poetry, stories, and “microcuentos”. I’m not a fanatic of novels, because they usually are an escape from our own reality, of course not all. There are some novels that impressed me because of the atmosphere created by the author, and some new and interesting sensations. A novel like this is Narciso y Golmundo from Herman Hesse, Pedro páramo from Juan Rulfo, or Cien años de soledad from García Marquez which is the most typical. My favorite poets are Juan Luis Martinez, Jaime Sabines, Nicanor Parra, and some others who are not exactly poets like Cortázar, and Marcial Souto. To conclude, I could say that I love literature but to be sincere I love some voices, I mean that the important, and what I like from literature, or books, is what they say, no matters how they say it.

Summary from an article

http://www.santiagotimes.cl/chile/

Last Thursday in Santiago thousands of high school and university students marched to express their frustration because the government doesn’t give an answer to their demands. Similar protests happened in cities like Concepcion and Valparaiso. This protest was organized by the Coordinating Assembly for Secondary Students (ACES), the National Coordination of Secondary Students (CONES) and supported by the umbrella organization the Confederation of Chilean Students (Confech).

Students estimate 70 000 protesters for the education in Chile. Indeed they protest to be heard by the congress, because of  the congressional debate over the 2013 budget witch students insist must have a special focus on education. By the other hand the administration has said it plans for education spending to reach a record of twenty percent of the budget in education.

Anyways after a while the violence broke out and the police engulfed the crowd by a medley of tear gas and water cannons. Heated interchanges continued for several hours. After that the crowd was dispersed along side streets because they couldn’t continue along the designated route.

Many humans rights observer like Elisa Disqueto were present and denounced many abuses. Another humans rights observer Javiera Campos Menendez  said that there were three completely illegal arrest of protesters for no motive.

To conclude the police have arrested 106 protesters and the majority of them were minors, so in the most cases it was unfair.

My best Holidays

It’s difficult to say which have been my best holidays until now because everyone has been different. But I think that the best has been probably when I spend two months travelling from Chile to Brazil. I visit Argentina, Paraguay and basil until reaching arrayal d’Ayuda, which is a very small and beautiful beach. There was warm water to bathe and the weather was very good. I meet a lot of interesting people in the way, and even if I don’t talk their language I achieve to communicate with them.
This travel was in 2009 so now I remember only the feeling, so I don’t remember too details, for example all the names of each village we past through but I can remember the land and the people I meet there. It was like a dream come true, because I always wanted go to Brazil. In Argentina I buy many books because they were cheaper than if I buy them in Chile. So my bag was very heavy when I come back. I will never forget those days in Brazil; I did so many amazing things that I couldn’t forget them.

countries I would like to visit

I would like to visit some Latino Americans countries and some others from the east of Europe. They are two different part of the world but they are both very interesting for me. I have learnt lots of things by washing films about them. I have always wanted to visit this part of the world. Especially in regard to Latino America, Ecuador, Colombia or Venezuela. On the other hand Rumania, Serbia, and Czech Republic seem to me very interesting and beautiful places, not only because of their landscapes but also because of their culture. If I went there I would like to walk around the entire city, the parks, and above all to talk with the people who live there. So, I would like if I could to spend a long time in each place, to really know the places I went and if it is possible learn their language and not be only a tourist more.

First term: good and bad points

Lately I don't remember what I did even yesterday, so sincerely I don't remember very well how the first term of 2012 was. With regards to academic things, I liked two of my subjects very much, so it was good to attend at university. Moreover I did capoeira twice a week and it was very fun.
However during this fast first term I met very interesting people and I learned a lot of new things. In regards to sentimental things, I find someone very especial, so in this way it was generally a good term. Of course it isn’t the only important thing that happened to me but as I don’t have a good memory it’s difficult to say more.
Another very positive aspect of last term is that some important things of my quotidian life have changed. In this way, three persons who used to live with me have gone, so now there are different people living in my house, which is good in some aspects. Finally to conclude it was a good first term for me.
